The Majipreneurs Hackathon was a two-day event held on 13th and 14th April 2026 where students worked in teams to develop innovative solutions for real challenges faced by water and sanitation entrepreneurs in Kenya.

• Learned about entrepreneurship and careers in the water and sanitation (WASH) sector
• Collaborated with peers and seasoned entrepreneurs to design practical solutions
• Received mentorship from industry experts and entrepreneurs
• Pitched ideas to a panel of sector leaders

How did participants apply?

• Participants formed teams of 3 (preferably from different fields of study).
• Each team submitted one application via the online form below.
• Applicants shared what motivated them to get involved in an event combining WASH and entrepreneurship, including their individual and team stories.
• Applications  were open from March 16^th to March 29^th.

Applications were reviewed on a rolling basis, with early submissions receiving priority consideration on a first-come basis. 

What participants experienced

Participants took part in:

• A field visit to water and sanitation companies to understand how these businesses operate and the challenges they face in delivering services.
• A real-life business challenge presented by the participating water and sanitation companies after the field visit.
• Two days of collaborative problem-solving, where teams worked to develop practical and innovative solutions to the challenge.
• Expert mentorship and guidance from industry professionals and entrepreneurs throughout the hackathon.
• A final pitch, where teams presented their solutions to a panel of expert judges, including sector specialists and representatives from the participating businesses.
