The Majipreneurs Hackathon is a two-day event on 13th and 14th April 2026 where students work in teams to develop innovative solutions for real challenges faced by water and sanitation entrepreneurs in Kenya.

 

  • Learn about entrepreneurship and careers in the water and sanitation (WASH) sector
  • Collaborate with peers and seasoned entrepreneurs to design practical solutions
  • Receive mentorship from industry experts and entrepreneurs
  • Pitch ideas to a panel of sector leaders

How to apply?

  • Form a team of 3 participants (preferably from different fields of study).
  • Submit one application per team via the online form below.
  • Share with us what motivates you to get involved in an event combining WASH and entrepreneurship. We want to know your individual and team stories!
  • Applications open March 16th – March 29th.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submissions will receive priority consideration (first-come basis). Teams are therefore encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

What to expect

Participants will take part in:

  • A field visit to water and sanitation companies to understand how these businesses operate and the challenges they face in delivering services.
  • A real-life business challenge from the participating companies (both water and sanitation) that will be presented to the teams after the field visit.
  • Two days of collaborative problem-solving, where teams will work to develop practical and innovative solutions to the challenge.
  • Expert mentorship and guidance from industry professionals and entrepreneurs throughout the hackathon.
  • A final pitch, where teams will present their solutions to a panel of expert judges including sector specialists and representatives from the participating businesses.

 

Winning teams will be selected based on the practicality, innovation, and potential impact of their proposed solutions

Prize fund: 100,000 KSh per winning team for each theme:

  • Water Challenge: 100,000 KSh.
  • Sanitation Challenge: 100,000 KSh.

 

Selected participants will aso be invited to attend: 

  • The Majipreneurs Talent Fair (15th April 2026 at 3pm)
  • The Majipreneurs Summit and Hackathon Awards (16th April 2026)
